Photography and music have always been a huge part of my life. It's where I go when all cylinders are not firing together. A walk in the woods with my camera does more for me than any advil could ever do. I have a type A personality, very obsessive and compulsive, which drives my family nuts. I have read that a lot of photographers have this trait and I find it very useful as a photographer. In my everyday life I am very impatient and don't like to sit around very long, but when I'm out taking nature pictures I don't mind sitting in one spot for hours. I am a baby boomer and was raised in a small town in upstate New York, where you could walk across Main Street at midday without looking. I did not go to Woodstock, but I had a hippy stage. I remember John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, and Martin Luther King. I love to read essays by Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. I remember when 0's and 1's were something you would add, subtract, multiply, or divide with, not listen to or communicate with. I have three wonderful kids and five super grandchildren. I married an angel, she has to be to live with a guy like this for forty-six years.
